Nudge,Ping and Lag Discussion
HI
What's the cl_timenudge command for?
It's quite simple: it accelerates your projectile... for example if you have a ping of 50 with - - > real ms20 when you fire without wxecuting the command your projectile shoots with a delay of 6millisecs, but with cl_timenudge -20 your projectile will shoot at 3 millisecs (believe me, that helps a lot). On the other hand, this command is extensively used in the OSP mod, even though it has a -20 allowed limit, not because it's a cheat (as some e+ players insist), but because it creates a Graphic Lag, for example -21,-25,-30... etc.
How do I measure my ms?
cg_lagometer 1
cg_drawping 1
Reccomended config for users with 20 to 30 ping
-adsl over 512k
rate 25000 (bandwidth)
snaps 40
Cl_maxpackets 100
cl_timenudge -20
If you need more info just ask me XD
Isn't cl_timenudge cheat-protected?
i was playing with a guy who used a -20 timenudge and i didnt notice any difference playing against him. But someone else was calling him a cheater-noob

people get called names for anything. youll learn to ignore, or if you have rcon, to "stimulate" different thinking
phoeey..reading hqs and nihils post i have to go find out what timenudge just precisely does now...wish there was a quake encyclopaedia with all relevant information...gah guess ill have to rely on old man google again

re-read it all. its all the most important stuff, plus links to detailed pages (nihils post).
i dont think google will help you more...
i did...read that entire unlagged backward calculation except the code part..interesting..it would be interesting to compare the way unlagged works with the way laghax works in cpma...but first i gotta find out how laghax works lololol...gib!

*clears throat* Wonko cg_laghax is ArQon's re-implementation of cg_smoothclients, not timenudge. ArQon also re-implemented cl_timenudge too though (cg_nudge). According to ArQon, Quake 3's implementations are somewhat broken, thus the need for him to implement his own methods for CPMA.
But yeah, I'd like to understand cg_laghax too. There's obviously a lot more to it than there is with cg_smoothclients.
hehe dont know that..but i guess what i was trying to say was that apart from lg i dont seem to be getting that many lag problems even at 150 ping in cpma....tho i have to say the lg is an uber issue when i play half-decent players.
Nope,timescale is cheat protected.
