quake 3 standalone player
hey, at college the IT techies have decided to let us use the LAN to play fps during lunch i think they are playing also so its all good...at the moment though we only have halo1, in a format where we can just load it up off a pen drive and play, without any installations...
i was wondering if somebody could make a version of q3 that is possible to play without installing anything, just running it from a pen drive like this? and even greater would be the possibility to play e+ at college with my friends over lan, does anybody know how to do this? ) if so they get one fricken HUGE bag of cookies
cheers,
ash
q3 doesnt need any installing at all
just copy the q3 directory to something and run it from there
whats a pen drive? :f
he means external USB storage device. USB key if u want. And yes I think u can do it like foksie said.

thought that it is already that, but who knows
seriusly, it works the way foks said, even with e+ without any problems.
hf u guys!
u can even run q3 from cd/dvd ;>
q3 needs to work only quake3.exe file and in baseq3 folder pak0.pk3 - pak8.pk3 nothing more.
ye atm i just have a cd with q3 installed.. i just copy it and run it.. no need of install or smth like that
we did that at uni... thats how i first became addicted to q3... *sigh*
yes just burn your q3 folder on a cd or copy it on your usb stick.. i used my mp3 player as q3 device to play at work
But, if you don't properly install Q3, you miss on such cool and awesome features as the totally working uninstall icon AND STUFF.
^^haha cheers for the help guys, i will have a mess around
