beazt, why he should drive a custom-bike, if he want to drive a car? Why he should eat paniata if he wants pizza? Why he should play Majoong, if he likes Q3 more?
it was joke mow. If somebody have problems with windows, he can try alternative
BTW in that article you can find advantages of linux. BTW root system in ubuntu is very similar to allowing system in vista (when you want to change something in system). That article is propably older.
I dont think linux can replace windows like when you replaced win95 by win98. But its real and functional alternative. Its about week or two and after that you can do "everything" in ubuntu what you do in win.
BTW your example with q3 vs mojoong isnt right if q3 is one of few 3d games which you can run under linux too BTW q3 runs faster under linux than in win
Anyway, i wont feel any difference on q3 between windows and linux regarding the performance on my system.
Just when i remember, i started q3 on a PII with 333 mhz and a geforce 440mx with 64 MB RAM and was also able to play good compared to nowadays a Q6600 with and Geforce 8800 Ultra and 3 GB RAM.
Damn, why i go always offtopic.
Well, anyway, ontopic now, i dont have much knowledge about it, but i would check also the system on rootkits, and if i wouldnt find anything, i would make a real format of my hdd, not the win format, i mean with ubuntu live disc, which really overwrites the hdd while formating. (hi beazt
just press enter (empty password).
that usually happens when you install .net framework. it creates a new user called "NET Framework" and then windows don't know which of the "users" want to login. So it shows the login screen (simple version).
Unless you set some password on account creation, just pressing enter will log you in.
And yes, first few boots take a frickin long time. It stops after .net framework successfully updates all the files it needs.
on topic: WinKey + R -> control userpasswords2 -> coose user, uncheck "before use..." and apply
off topic: @mow: q3 is on linux more smooth
well, lets say i dont feel any difference, i tryed the new suse linux 3 months ago, i just learned, i am too stupid for linux.
did you set an admin account on install? try loging in as admin.
None of Urs solution is good:/ When I don't type any pass i see text:
"You can't log in reason limitation your account"
When i start Emergency mode situation is the same.
I have to do total format i see...
