Its good. I hoped that they will dont do it fully 3d how is trend of last 6 years. On screenshots it looks the same playable like original :!:

Normally i dont play strategic games but starcraft is the exception. We played SC at school if we had hours of IT. Nice long multiplayer matches we played in that times...

Who "they"? Happy If you mean Blizzard, it's arguable that they've "ever" made a screwup, but that depends on how you classify such.

For me, WC3 was a "screwup" because of the heroes, but that is for me only and I simply cannot argue against sales and popularity. I also am not particularly impressed by WoW, but that doesn't stop its popularity and revenue from being something absolutely ridiculous... Big grin (I have nothing against the WarCraft franchise, WC2 was the first brand new game I bought for the PC and I love it to this day.)

Anyway, I watched everything I could find when I woke up this morning. Some nice videos:

It looks awesome to me. The cinematic stuff is just... Blizzard, no comment needed to be honest. Ingame is perfect in my opinion; a friend thought - although he didn't dislike it - that it was perhaps a bit too cartoonish, but also said he wanted to see better quality videos before judging. Whatever he or anyone thinks about that later is fine, to each his own.

Again, to me, it looks like a "perfect sequel". It is clearly a new game, but not "too" much is changed. Too little? No doubt in the universe that there will be people saying that (and already do), but I disagree.

What they are sequelling here is the largest (not disputable) and best (can be discussed I guess, I do think this though) RTS ever, that STILL reigns. They're only trying to top themselves. "Don't fix what isn't broken", and while not a lot is "broken" with the original, we're in new times with 3D graphics and some other fun stuff (hopefully they will add replay functions like, and better than, C&C3) and it "just needs" an upgrade.

It's fair for anyone to say that they think there is too little change, but fact is such people will always be there whatever they do, and if they would change more - tadaa, people would argue about too much being changed. I believe that Blizzard made the right choice considering the original StarCrafts' dominance and even present day popularity, and Blizzard wouldn't have done like they did if they didn't believe in it themselves. They knew what people would complain about even before people knew they were making StarCraft 2, and they make the game as they want it. They want it to take StarCraft's place, and something too different will have a hard time doing this. Just look at CS:S vs CS 1.6, to me one good looking and one bad looking version of the same game but to hardcore 1.6 players it's two completely different games, and after years they still haven't switched.

As for in-game graphics, the fact that Blizzard COULD but DIDN'T make them more advanced is why I feel that it's nothing that should be complained about even if some older games have more advanced visuals. There is so much for them to take into consideration, such as people having to be able to run the game where they previously with both WC3 and WoW have proven to rather go with a style that works and suits the game, rather than just pump technology and aim a huge middle finger at the players in recent id software fashion. I personally think, from the (work in progress, as they clearly state in the demonstration at BWWI) footage seen so far, that they are succeeding again. It looks like StarCraft in 3D, no more, no less. It's a bit more mature than WC3, just as StarCraft was compared to WC2.

Considering that these guys were the ones that made StarCraft, I take the liberty of assuming that the game will have an incredible multiplayer with their trademark balanced gameplay, if not from the beginning, then quickly through continued patching. I mean come on, Wikipedia has this to say about the original StarCraft:

Quote:
It was initially released for Microsoft Windows in 1998
[...]
Latest version 1.15.0 (2007-05-16)

That is nothing short of exemplary support.

What I also really look forward to is the continuation of the story! StarCraft had an ace story to be honest, without doubt one of the best ever (in my opinion). They managed to have a lot of it, while not making it "too much". It felt natural with some of it happening during the missions, and normally more between them. Amazing voice acting as always; I don't know how much they are hurt by the departure of the people going over to form Flagship Studios, but I hope the important roles (KERRIGAN!) will have the same actors. I was particularly afraid of the loss of Bill Roper, but looking it up didn't seem like he had any important roles (...that survived from the first story atleast) and I keep my fingers crossed in general on this.

So right now, this is my most anticipated game. Unreal 3 and whatever... not close Happy I sucked (still do) at the original StarCraft, but it was FUN, and this looks to be the same! With so much story, it's like finally getting a sequel to a book you love and are dying to know what happens next. I just want to see more of the Queen Bitch of the Universe.

Hell, it's about time.

What worries me is a few lines in the description of SC2 that state that heroes will be much more prominent. I hope it doesnt mean WC3 style heroes...

Reason i like SC was the fact you had to work with different units, and not just have one uber one, that made all the others also uber...

Amen to that. I really hope they won't be WC3-fashion either. I haven't read that part you mention, but I guess it didn't say if it was aimed at single player or multiplayer? Because in the singleplayer campaign there were heroes in the original aswell, and that worked really well I thought, lots of fun and helped with the story. More of that there would be fine with me.

As far as multiplayer goes, atleast from the footage we've already seen some pretty large size armies and that's what I was missing from WC3 where there were heroes "instead"...

I always played as Terrans and almost always did the same thing; build a huge base with a badass defence, and then pumped fully upgraded marines as many as possible when I got to that point Happy And always... this was fun Big grin Pretty much only worked against the computer, and on the $$$$-maps, but yeah I already said I sucked xD

Zergs were the coolest though, I just never learnt to handle them. Had a friend being quite good at those though so got my dose of awesomeness anyway.

I hope it's gonna be as good as SC1 and i hope they are going to keep all original things, not adding new stuff that will fuck up the game.
