skyping, testing out cvar but beeing on 2sweet freeze today (bad misstake but was forgettin it cos of talking to friends [skype] etc) so settin cg_shaddow 2). few secs l8er i was kicked for two mins. setting ist back to 1, reconnecting, still talkin to guys about that and then ban.
reason: cg_shaddow 2 = cheating.

tonight, right now, trying to connect once again, worx fine untill awaiting gamestate and the the same pb_message: cg_shaddow 2 = cheating

but look @ the screenshot, i set it back to 1... no, i even deleted the entry of cg_shaddow outa my cfg and it still causes the same pb-msg...

check the screenshot and if u have an idea, plz gimme an answer

i was on there too and saw it, at first he got kicked cause he set this shadows cvar on 2. The he has changed it back too 1 and got banned from server cause it was on 2, after i gave him new cd-key and we have had a new try, he got banned again for that cvar, it was on 2 pb says, but it still was on 1, so he deleted whole cvar from config and new cd-key, and he got banned again ... strange thing if u ask me and iam interested what that could be ....

my opinion is that this cvar is after setting one time setted in game like when u change all settings with that stupid tool which writes all the settings in some way in the game or smth, cause when i have "tuned" my game with it for testing, there was no way too get the old settings back, i have deleted all configs and this stuff, and the settings where still there, maybe this cvar writes in itself in the game in this way ? Thinking

Well it is possible the cvar got saved in his baseq3 cfg, so its reloaded everytime, and not having it set in e+ he keeps the value from baseq3. Just a tought.

I am proud of spreading a pirated Excessive Plus version and claim to be the original author, yay!

yes i thought same but we have changed it there also, btw there it was on 1 too, and we have also deleted the whole configs and stated quake so it makes new configs, but nothing happened

lol ratz wtf u are talking about there, so at first since when are shadows in games cheats ? :roll: ok since that time i know that it is cheat here, i didnt know before and yeah doesnt know too, or u think when we would know that we put them in and go then on 2sweet server ? :roll:

Hope u dont understand it wrong but i never ever heared from any games that shadows are cheats in any case, and its only in quake like this, and when someone doesnt know, and just trys new cvars out, (or is cvartrying a cheat too?) ... i have no words for that, just gg ...

got it right that u wrote the pb-cfg for 2!sweet servers? y dont u make an list with the mainly important things players shall attend. i dont talk about stuff u have to protect cos of miss-using the information by cheaters, just the basic stuff like

cg_shaddow < 2;
com:maxfps < 1000;

...

and stuff like that.

and btw, ur post didnt help me in any way. but nevertheless, thx for nothing

well i can understand that its cheat-protected cos its possible to see the shaddow-volume sometimes trough a wall or even if an enemy is right behind a closed door. i knew about that but i thought its

cg_shaddow 3 and not 2. thought 2 just draws a polyplane with texturedot under the playermodel ==> spotshaddow.

doesnt matter anyway, i just wanted to know y pb still fux me cos of cg_shaddow 2 even its not in my cfg anymore...
