DeeX server - TOO much change!
...I don't mind the config at all but after I stopped playing it seems like everytime I log onto DeeX something has changed, either new maps or the config has changed... I believe they are being changed way too much and without anyone's consent really, it used to be announced before hand up in the console, now it's like, the map changes and when it starts to auto download it -- that's when you finally find out. Half the time, most people don't even like the maps anyways...What does everyone else think?
i've made this point before, you will only get yelled at
no one really seems to cares it seems though i do agree i've already explained the same thing you've explained in the other topic in-fact, i think everything that you've said has been covered already everyone is trying to give their crappy suggestions and they get shot down when they are implemented and even more people complain i just want to be able to play
i am fine with playing on beer and other servers when i feel like it though, it may get to the point where i might have to stop going to certain servers because i am tired
I would like to make two general points. First, is that we have plenty of E+ Servers in the Americas. But, as others have pointed out, many ppl simply cram into a few.
Also, I find that most players from this hemisphere cling to Freeze Tag and do not broaden their experience with CTF, TDM, FFA, and Duel. The majority have never even heard of game types like RTF, 1FCTF, or PTL.
However, in all fairness, many of these gamers can not be blamed. Server operators can do more to spice things up. The format can be changed for 1 night once every two weeks or even once per month.
These "Event" nights can consist of different configs (e5r, mOve, or Pro) different gametypes, perhaps even throw in 1 or 2 new maps, etc.
If the top 10 USA servers did some kind of "event" even once per month, I do think that it would lead to more enthusiasm and excitement.
Second, Dissonance has a proposal that involves having Server Operators standardize and co-operate in a manner that should prove beneficial to E+ gaming in this hemisphere. The first meeting on this proposal will take place later this week.
Maybe these undertaking will lead to less player drain to Europe and greater satisfaction to more players.

Well I have been back for about a week after 6 months of active duty in afghanistan, the luck of a short stay. Deex's has changed tremendously, many a constant new players, new members of old clans, the same macho bull, "ya know how we are all the best right :)" it didn't take so long to get back into the swing of things, as I've been playing alot of 1v1.
Anyhow, Ive played quake since quake 1 days over quakeworld, rune, lithium, requiem, freeze you name it. The most constant thing is change. Get use to it, we have had DEEX switch through many a hand and its still with us. Probably a testament to how good its been to us.
Enjoy
