ioquake3 server from violence
Is there a possibility to change the code that it uses some kind of radius for drawing models ahead, change the radius to wider, for example to draw the enemy much earlier before you enter from the corridor, that could fix a problem with players suddenly popuping out of a corner, maybe this could also fix a problem with small obstacles like pillars or thin walls like on dm1 shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFfb5XYew2I
Anyway thx Violence for this binary & source code, are those full source codes of this server binary ?
I will look into it later
These bugs are creepy.
In general, antiwh is too raw to be used for any 'serios' game. Even turning it on at the Rus Rail is bad idea.
Putting restrictions by sounds for all players only by reason that some one unable to handle the basic stuff of gaming is some kind of degradation of people over here(there?).
I fully agree on this, Its like you run into a room full of enemies, and only after half of a second they appear.
this fucks up reaction time, and kills the option of prediction. THIS IS NOT antiwh, this feels more like a rendering bug. This game is based on prediction, now it'll be based on corner campers, and luckers.
ok, atm is high ping and high velocity a problem to your solution. in fact, it moves the balance towards low pingers, something we tried to avoid since years because of unlagged.
Atm, kinda like 50 players are suffering from bad implementation, and less then a half dozen whs. wouldn't it be better to just turn it on on purpose? I even would suggest a auto turnoff after 2 maps or something and a voteable function.
edit: i forgott, I will check on the code later today, maybe I understand something
using gnu means as soon as you share your server executable in public, you need to post the source code.
Please reread the license and ask a more advanced person about the exact rights and possibilities.edit:

the problem you encounter will be copyleft.
Skull,
Violence already caved in and offered the source but he did not have to do so in the manner that you said.
"...there is a good deal of confusion about when a distributor must release their source code if their program is licensed under the GPL. Many people mistakenly believe a GPLed program must be accompanied with source code, freely available to anyone who wants it. This is not the case. When someone distributes software under the GPL they must comply with one of the three following options:
- Accompany [the program] with the complete corresponding machine-readable source code.
- Accompany [the program] with a written offer, valid for at least three years, to give any third-party, for a charge no more than your cost of physically performing source distribution, a complete
machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code.
- Accompany [the program] with the information you received as to the offer to distribute corresponding source code.

btw, this article like similar ones in other reputable Linux publications, also points out further misconceptions that people have about the GPL.
I don't get your problem Killer

That's because you're taking it personally. You were right to have him seek further info and nice to have posted the GPL link but you were wrong when you told him that he needed to post the source code. Not personal just a fact.
Yep killer is right, is not required to add the source code with the GPL

But i think that to this project that violence started can be given a helping hand, why not. But is his decision and we should respect it.
I would suggest you Violence to add it to a version control system like git, mercurial, svn if you haven't done it yet. on google /github or even local on your pc. To track all your changes and maybe get back to a prior version when needed. etc
Btw well done, i did tried out the version and looks clean, i will look at the changes this weekend.
As for the missing sounds i would have an idea to allow the sounds from where the player might be, maybe with a small randomized position change (you know why) on a limited range, if the performance can allow of course.

you made a post directed to me and I answered?
edit:
well epsi, lets do our best in supporting this one. Lets start with the purefix and split player and sound.

pure isnt bypassable on edawn executable,... client side only, unlucky for us.
maybe this can be remastered in some way
before answaring, no, cant, wont, consider this as an option and try
Sorry for delay with my answer, i'm very busy. I think it is possible and will be checked as I will have time.
This is all that i can give.
