5770 is nothing.

only in 5850 or 5870 you really have smth in ur hands. 5870 is very close to nvidia's gtx295 2GB version but it's a LOT cheaper btw. So atm ATI hands down.

I can't wait for mine to be delivered.

Already did waste them on a beautiful Intel i7 920, 8gb RAM, SSD drive and HD5870.

Bought a new PC

scores for: || cpu : Phenom II x6 1100t || ram : 8GB DDR || gfx : Powercolour 6870 X2 ||

quake3 -> Win 7 Pro 64 bit -> 933,3 fps

(1260 frames in 1,4 seconds)

AF x 16

Why not checking general benchmarks ? Basically any video card will run Quake3 just fine with anisotropic etc.

As Mow Q told, HD5770 really is a good choice in terms of price/perf ratio.

Also, I did have a HD4870 until 4 moths ago, and it does still run any game AND Q3 wery nicely.

I just want to add one small point : I don't think having uber framerate is a plus, as long as your monitor can't handle all these frames and will only display them according to its refreshing rate.
FPS drop is not a problem as long as it does not go under 125FPS.

Cheers

it seems u still haven't got the point of if since so long time...

anyway everyone who have played noghost in clanbase have played it on 250 or 333fps because it helps u against the unlagged and shooting reactions, u can even test the 250fps on e+ if the server will allow it, if u ain't going to notice the game is smoother and rails feels far more instant than on 125 then dunno how to explain it to u Winking

I am addicted to life.

Allright then, I guess I might have missed this point.

Anyway, my first comment was saying that basically any 90+ euros graphic card will do just fine. I might come back later on this topic with FPS on HD4670/4870/5770/6970.
