Decade of Games, I'm back to my roots!
surely I remember you Olympus... tho you havent been around too long I reckon... you came after the 1.16 Pants times and left before the XL leagues.
That results in a short 2? years periode.
I highly doubt you will remember any names of this forum here, since most of us are europeans and didnt crush into US servers that often
I do remember all of the players you are calling... Craz8, Tinky, Roca, Nikon, PornStar, etc. But at that times most of us been noobs, europe always been later than US in excessive
Some other players coming to my mind you should know: DS*BamBam, DS*Toddbridges, DS*Kicek, TKC/DS*JReoo, Voodoochild, [MgA] XXX, iX^w0rm, SEC*LimpPimp, SEC*MyLord, =DMF=Terror, =DMF=Kharn
We are actually in a period of time when you dont get much action on public servers, but are looking forward to clanwars when the real fun is going on.
If you want to see how excessive is happening actually I suppose you check this demo: http://rapidshare.com/files/304249873/Desktop.rar (you need E+ 2.0 to play it). It reflexes one of the latest clashes between top teams.
I remember the Telekinetic Cappers to be a "let's beat U9"-project
Quite some of your old fellas are still playing on 1.30. But since pidrus and XL went down, there is no common communication platform anymore as I know
Pants? Excessive? Never heard of it. Is it any good?
Noob mod for jerks.
I got a chance to check out the Borg server during lunch. I had one extra PK3 that was throwing the client / server mis-match. Played a round of CTF1 with 200 ping, needless to say, nearly impossible, lol. BUT, the point is I got a feel for the 1.03 server cfg and it actually seemed pretty close to Pants. Everyone seemed really friendly too. Really makes me wonder what 1.04 is like with faster weapon swapping and beefed up BFG. I'd like to try out an unlagged 1.04 E5 server.
Those are server configuration files, which are gameplay rulesets that modifies lots of aspects of the game, if you would have checked Borg Team CTF HQ, which runs 2.0a and an excessive config, you would have felt the same. These server configs gives you the flexibility (or curse as you might say) that if you dont like something, you can always modify it.
Do not confuse it with the mod version, version 2.0a is the latest one, it contains all 1.03 features and much more, and 1.03/1.04 servers will (hopefully) be updated.

Must have your MODS confused, thats the "Internet MOD" you speak of. <3
Oh aye, much more fitting in the local setting.
Welcome to E+, although i'm afraid you won't have much fun playing it, considering your config preference and location. You can always try your luck on the US plus config server(, if you can stomach instarail.
Honestly dude, 2.0a has much better playing on high ping than 1.03. I know. I'm American and spent much more time on European servers in 1.03 (2005-this year) than I did US servers. Got used to the *SLIGHT* lag in 1.03 on ping over 90, but never did get used to the weird switchtime and movement glitches that happened sometimes.
With 1.04 all the way up to present (2.0a), playing on high ping servers is almost exactly like playing on ~40ms ping. I'm amazed with it, honestly, the Unlagged technology plus whatever it is Beast managed to fix in the updates has made playing on high ping in 2.0a SO GREAT.
I'm with Spider on this one, I will join you for some games on Bro/Plus-like configs and show you what it's all about. I'm out of practice in the worst way after long inactivity, and the latest 2.0a update seems to fuck up my framerates (I have bad graphics at the moment ), but I still like playing small matches. I am an HK player with Spider but I play other mods and games also.
Just a by-the-way - I've seen some insane CTF games played on the NoGhost mod that almost remind me of e5 style CTF, but only somewhat. NoGhost is similar to Excessive Plus in that you can alter alot of options for weapons and gameplay style, but - no offense to any NoGhost dudes here - the community and overall mod development/implementation is nowhere NEAR as sophisticated, complete, concise, exciting, professional, etc. as Excessive Plus. NoGhost has some potential to be awesome, indeed, but I don't see you having as much fun there as you could here.
Hell, you might've seen me in other games and mods over the years
Edit - I also forgot to mention, most servers you're going to want to play on are 2.0a servers. 1.04 and all 1.04 builds, betas, tests, RCs, etc. should be phased out soon. 1.03 servers will remain for those who prefer it until certain issues are addressed in 2.0a, but I think overall most people who have this opinion are doomed to one of two fates...

Yeah, I'm very familiar with all the folks you mentioned. I'd forgotten all about the Pidrus phase, missed XL League. June did a great job of stirring the pot in the communities back then, (esp. on Pidrus with Bubba) lulz.
You make a good point that there's not really a central location for all the remaining interest to congregate. Something accommodating this might go a long way to restoring some more US interest. Honestly though, without a ladder to support the competitive nature of things its hard to maintain.

BTW - Thanks for the demo, can't wait to check it out!
