And why is Krater taken as a prime example when you, arax, said he is 3rd in the total-posts-sorted memberlist ! wtf ??

why don't you remove avatars, sigs, postcount, custom title/ forum rank all togheter, so no more: Look ! that guy has that-thing ! Hang him ! look ! that guy has more of those-things ! off with him !

sheesh ! guys! if this forum is your biggest problem, i really don't want to know how much time you spend on your other problems in life....

You spend more time thinking about the forum, instead of thinking about new quake strategies and improving yourself.

Forum is a gamers' meeting place, but that's human nature : Let's modify the nature according our will.

pf..

Read this carefully !
You know where actions like this will get this forum to ?
I come from one of the biggest forum in ro, and i'll tell you some rules from which you can get banned for at least 2 weeks :

a) You're not allowed with colored text in sig
Cool You're not allowed with pictures in sig, only text
c) Your text signature has to be less than 4 rows ( 1st row
2nd row
3rd row
4th row )
d) You're not allowed with links in your sig

That's regarding sigs
Now, regarding posting:
You're banned for at least 3 weeks if you:
a) Post monosilabil words ( like lol etc )
Cool Already posted a reply to the topic and you later have something to say, you're not allowed to post again. You have to edit your prev post.
c) Post 2 replies of some topics in one ( 1 ) day.

Anyway, there are more rules from which you can get banned for at least 2 weeks, but these are the most important.

Is here where you wanna end up ?

n.b. : banned on entire forum, not on a single forum section.

Hahaha, that sure sounds like ass-stiff forums. >_>

Anyway, if we're comparing this site and how it's managed to other forums out in the web, it's horrifyingly undermodded and unkempt, to be honest. I'm not saying the admin staff is doing a bad job, coz they're definitely not, but i have a feeling they're not keeping up. Either that, or they don't care. I saw Casa close a topic just coz it went off tracks a little, yet a topic in which Base and Aiko throw shit at each other remains open.

Do we really think "karma" would keep flamewars from happening? Unless somebody constantly removed negative posts--who has the time for that.
Post-count-title removal would not stop spam, IMO.

What I meant was that we should only stick to the positive commentaries("karma"), as negatives could be made out of spite and could promote flamewars.

umm tbh. i dont think the forums are horrible. theyre ok. if u dont want to read a thread dont. end of story.

however it is definitely undermodded. and most of the time if a thread starts turning into a flame war, mods lock it. zzzzzz. sif that solves anything. if the mods were any good, they'd remove the flamy post and move on with the topic. it would seem that the mods just dont have the time to spend on modding.

apart from that, this entire topic is pointless anyway. the only people who're really serious about the forum-count based title are the ones who put too much importance on them. in other words those who have too much testosterone to allow someone with a 1000 posts more than them to stay around.

Haha, is that directed at people like me? Happy

I would guess so, but really I don't give a crap about the titles, I would just like to see some of the spam we see here to disappear. Maybe removing the titles will help a bit, maybe it won't. Plus if we had those removed we could just make our own, a much more exciting prospect ;d

arax. i seriously doubt kraster does it for the post count. dont think either mad or foksie or wax or anybody with those uber post counts got it by spamming. most of their posts are pretty to the point and thoughtful. (exceptions ofc).

I'm sorry, I never said Kraster does it for the postcount in any way except of a joke. If it has been understood so I take it back ;d

The consistency in forum moderation is important, the admins set the bar. I'm used to other boards I guess, because I find these ones pretty chaotic, with a spur-of-the-moment feel to the posts and to the moderation of the forum.

An idea might be to create a lounge like forum where people can socialize (read: spam). I think that would help clean up to put those types of posts into one clear category. If thats what people want of course, if not leave it as it is. But I, for example, am hardly active at the off topic section simply because I've yet to see a serious thread Big grin

Gimme' news, politics, heated debates, military history, T-34 vs PzKpfw VI. Then we're talking forums if you ask me. :blackeye:

Spam IS offtopic...

T34 rapes every pnazer imaginable (but not the tiger Sad)

In my opinion, politics + alcohol + coffee + q3 + insomniacs make a dangerous, even explosive mix.

The thing about these forums is that they still work with the admins still controlling them. I would consider this freedom of speech. If things DO get a little hot (like when I was boris yeltsin, and the "moede part 2" thing happened, admins, mods & other respectable people were there chill, close and delete the pointless topic Winking
I mean even if other forums work, this one does too, call it natural selection, both "other forums" and "this forum" are doing good in their systems, so need to change...
