agreed. ive tried this method and it sucks really. as soon as the game ends, everyone disappears to another "private server". Public servers are the way to keep the community alive imo. u can always password a server if you want private games

cpma community has them and it seems pretty alive and kicking to me ;P

It's an old game. The first thing you have do is preserve your "base" of players. That can happen only with quality games.

well pickups are based on a healthy irc community. and altho the e+ irc community is small, i do believe we have enough active members to consistently have pickups. and besides, there is a vast number of e+'ers out there who've never used irc and are only starting to.
i think pickups will be reasonably successful considering we managed to create the largest e+ channel in 2 days .
u guys should really give it a try.
