but i am afraid that they are afraid to get catched for cheating Winking which is imo

edawn has been picked due to the better contact between an ng server admin and edawn dev. besides that the cheaters in ng are mostly obvious. (such as Inmortal )

ps: its obvious people think about e+ as spam and its fatal that people do not want to recognise the truth, memphis gave a very good demonstration of a random demo he had on his pc:

Best idea for make a WIKIPEDIA MOD ExcessivePlus site. I will help for translate to polish langauge if will be finisg english version. E+ Rock! I think other idea, for make (by our members: GRAPHIC DESIGNER) New banners with ExcessivePlus logo and insert this banners on our websites. And one more: because every one use YouTube, maybe will be best to make special account EXCESSIVEPLUS and upload best movies from E+Mod games Happy all in one place. Good luck for E+ Community and mod!

1 )advertise around the internet(moddb, wiki pages, quake sites, etc).
2 )a standalone game with new maps and models.
3 )make on E+ gametype and maps from Q3 TEAM ARENA.
4 )Add e+ to Clanbase or ESL..
5 )more developers such as coders (for improving mod).
6 )webdevs (to finish this site).
7 )designer (for some art work).
8 )people for documentation.
9 )make a trailer video.
10)an Excessiveplus account for youtube
Which are realizable, wich not?

People will join for the same reason that you joined and played this mod! If e+ will die is cause there are no renewal of players/developers. Think about it.

Try to delete some post so there will remain only the most importants.
I would like to have an opinion about this discussion from you Skull, cause a moderator, a developer, an administrator are also players.

and seems most important:
1 )advertise around the internet(moddb, wiki pages, quake sites, etc).

mesages about it passes bye.. does those posts are invisible ?
seems do not get atention; dont be so blind..
i think if it will not be started from you, you and you now, whole e+ will be rooled by lithuanians haharharhar-satanish-evilAnubis- =]:D~ cause  lithuanians are much more open mindet at this... and after all there will no be others (hands up -> 'lol' 'lol' )

noticed too...

The majority of people think they think, when really they just change their prejudices. Understanding is a matter of will in most cases.

I keep on seeing advertise! stand alone game! trailer videos! Make an account here! Documentation! Designer! Development! Register there! Maps! Okay, we get it, it comes down to the first point, advertise. Clearly, anyone who has tried has failed because:
1.) People see quake 3 as an old outdated game
2.) People see e+ as spam
3.) People see e+ as something they CAN'T handle, or don't want to relearn a different style
etc etc
That comes back to, yet again, how well you advertise. A shit product is shit, I understand that, but you can make a shit product look good. Unfortunately, e+ is not a shit product, especially right now with the current updates. You have to address the problems you guys are saying, not just mention them. Yes, register to that website, yes create a trailer, yes provide an easier way to get in-game, yes make everything easily accessible but the problem is, everyone shows a varying opinion and style, ESPECIALLY on these trailers and demos. When someone makes a trailer they show all rail shots, or someone killing with constant bfg or LG, someone blasting around hallways with BFG and grenades. You need to show them that e+ can be exactly like the game they used to play, while also showing that it's different, and certainly try to outline the MANY features that have been added over-all.

So basically:
People want to see something familiar, people want to see that there is variation (no, not spamming, faster gameplay, more choice of style), and people want to see improvement in the interface and gameplay. And of course, everything in moderation to appease all taste, and in a semi-organized manner. Many trailers (from what I have seen) just show difference from most traditional mods, and thats a killer LG, or someone swooping in and killing 10 people with rail. Sometimes I would really prefer to watch fodder play than skull. Skull is not a bad player, and fodder is not an expert however Fodder showcases more variation than skull in many ways, and can appeal to the newcomer a lot better than skull. Now, if I made a trailer of some sort for e+, I would certainly include them both so I could appeal to all crowds, but EVERY clip in the movie does not need to be a highlight of the guy with 100% rail accuracy, or 100% LG accuracy. That also means we need to showcase that e+ not only has a variety in style of players, but also showcase that we have varying skill levels within that style which helps people realize, they are not alone.

Even if you do have the perfect advertisement campaign, most gamers are kids who are moving on to the newest and best thing, such as console games, etc. Plus, quake 3 is old to begin with, so it looks unattractive to the eye that wants the newest and best thing. So regardless of how well you present everything, I would never expect to pull in the new crowd looking for the newest and best. I would try to pull from the crowd who still enjoys the glory of quake 3, and other old school games.

Having documentation is important, but really, it is not top priority because how many people will actually utilize it? It's not an urgent feature, yet it is important to the few that will use it, but definitely not urgent.

I got hell for this before, and I might again, but the website is very unorganized and bulky. It takes up too much space to convey ideas. Also, unattractive.

Maps, alright cool. I like new maps, that don't suck. But fact is, many of the default maps are something that almost everyone is familiar with, and also, to the new player (especially if they have not played quake before and are jumping in on e+) they are the simplest way of getting someone in-game. I see way too many of the "better" and more played servers messing with their maps a little too much. Everytime I just want to jump on for a game or two I have to download a few maps, 3-5 maps in a row sometimes! And majority of those maps are population killers to begin with (also, why does it take a month or two to switch a map like that out?)! Yes, having new maps is important. Yes, having maps that are branded e+ are attractive. Yes, having maps that are fun to play in, yet also allow competition are required. But many of the map makers (especially new ones) who make maps and brand them e+ do not create them to be played on e+.

For a month I had seeded quake 3, bundled with e+, along with various configs, maps, etc. I had about 50 downloads (several seeders), and about 5 people sought me out in-game when I had played. Of course, it was mostly euro players. I don't think they play anymore (it's been about a year?) and their complaint was (not exactly quoted): There are too many assholes on the server. More-over, a semi-unfriendly atmosphere. It is hard for a "new guy" to be accepted into the community. I see many sucky people who have not improved since I've been here (2005) yet they have meshed in fine, for one reason or another. I think it's because they had patience, but for the new comers who do not have patience, it is very unnerving to jump in-game and have someone say: "OMFG NO WAY HOW COULD I DIE TO HIM?" Very rarely do I jump in-game recently, but when I do most people are generally friendly (the ones that are left) and there is just barely a handful who just can't keep their mouth shut whenever a new guy kills them. Of course, to my surprise, (in most cases anyways) the majority of the population defends the new guy. I do not think the community has evolved, however, i do think we have lost who we needed to lose to achieve a better community (at least in-game). Even if it's a population hit, and even if some of them were the biggest contributors in e+, sometimes it's better to just be without, in some cases anyways.

So in short, I think we need to focus on how we present ourselves to other communities, we need to show them, we can offer you what you have, plus more, and fit in pretty damn well. We don't have some big company advertising quake 3 anymore, so it falls into the community's hands now. It's inevitable that quake 3 will die, more specifically e+, although it will take a very long time because a few people will always want to jump on here and there to play a game or 2, but there are still steps that can be taken to prolong it, and no, proposing ideas is not a solution, it's only the first step. And yeah, it will take time, and it will take some work, and even if it's only gaining one person every 2 months, but you can't give up because you are not seeing 10 new people every day, that is just an unreal number.
